RYA interactive course and examination

Dates for exam sessions are quite flexible. For example, in the evening at 07.00 pm or 08.00 pm. Your examination will not take longer than an hour.

The course is fully interactive and will take you through a modular training with VHF radio simulators. This course will take you through the training with your own speed. The SRC-course is anticipated to take 6 to 8 hours to complete and it can be taken by a PC, Mac and soon on iPads. Modules can be completed online or offline without a time limit and we will be able to view your progress.

Signing up After paying the course fee, we provide you with a user account on RYA Interactive and you will receive a RYA VHF ebook, which is included in the course fee.

Course fees per person

165 € including interactive course and RYA VHF ebook.

RYA SRC exam £70. Payable to the RYA on the day of the exam.

Nothing extra to pay than the above fees.

You must be 16 years of age or older to take the RYA VHF Radio course and examination.

The interactive course must be finished within one year. The interactive course will be deactivated after a successfull examination or after one year.

Steps from course to examination
  • 1. Log in to RYA Interactive and open the Marine Radio Short Range Certificate course.
  • 2. Download and complete the training modules on your PC or Mac. Modules can be
    downloaded to multiple supported devices.
  • 3. Return to RYA Interactive to take the Pre-exam Knowledge Check, which becomes available
    when the training modules are complete and synced .This will help to prepare you for the final exam which is taken for example in our training centre. There is no time limit for this knowledge check.
  • 4. When the knowledge check is passed with more than 80%, stay on RYA Interactive and download the course completion certificate. You should complete the course within 18 mionths.
  • 5. Final examination in our training centre. Bring along the application form from the student pack, a copy of the course completion certificate and a passport sized photograph of yourself.
